Three expert cleaning tips
Cleaning around the house can be time-consuming and frustrating to stay on top of. Thankfully, there are some things that can make it a little bit easier. Here are a few tips we've picked up over the years that can help make cleaning your home a little bit less of a chore.
Use an automotive wax applicator pad to clean greasy spots off of glass or countertops. This is great for dog nose-prints, toddler fingerprints, greasy food remnants, and so many other things. Just apply some dish soap and water to the applicator and scrub the affected area, then dry with a clean lint-free towel (usually non-microfiber towels work best for glass). You can generally find these applicator pads at Walmart, or anywhere auto parts are sold.
Pick up a bottle of Folex for difficult carpet stains. Short of hiring a professional carpet cleaner, this is the best way to get small stains out of carpet, especially when the stains are fresh. Just spray the spot thoroughly, let it sit for a moment, and then scrub with a clean, dry towel. You can find this product here.
Use a Magic Eraser to remove permanent marker from most surfaces. Whether it's because you accidentally used a sharpee on a whiteboard, or a marker got into the wrong little hands, this can be a challenging situation. Using a magic eraser along with some soap and water can help improve your odds of removing the marker dramatically. -- Have more questions about cleaning your home, or need some help around the house?
